Half of Andalucia's golf courses are located in Malaga province, along whose coastline stretches the famous Costa del Sol. The main attractions of this coastal area, which welcomes more than eight million tourist a year, are (apart from golf) quite varied: gastronomy, beaches marine sports, nightlife, shopping, typical villages, historical buildings and much more. Marbella (the Costa del Sol's most international municipality), Estepona, Mijas and Benahavis are home to most of the courses in the province, though the sport can also be enjoyed in many other Malaga areas.
Located in Malaga municipality are the El Candado Golf Course,

Guadalhorce Golf Course and El Parador Golf Course.
Marbella is the Costa del Sol's most cosmopolitan city, it is a tourist must, especially for golfers. In fact, it has the most golf courses of any municipality in Spain; a dozen. In bustling Puerto Banus, home to ostentaious yachts worth million of euros, or in any of the fashionable restaurants or terraces, you could find yourself rubbing shoulders with famous people from the glossy magazines and TV gossip programmes.
The "Golf Valley", a superb area situated behind Puerto Banus in the Nueva Andalucia macro-urbanisation, includes Las Brisas Golf Course, Los Naranjos Golf Course, La Quinta Golf Course, Aloha Golf Course and Dama de noche Golf Course, where you can play in the evening thanks to its artificial lighting system. Close by is the Guadalmina Golf Course. Within one kilometre of the centre of Marbella is El Paraiso, and just past the city, in the direction of Malaga, is Rio Real Golf Course that winds down to the sea. A little further along, near the Costa del Sol Hospital, is Santa Clara Golf Course and Marbella Club Golf Course. Greenlife Golf Course and Cabopino Golf Course are situated at the eastern of the municipality.
After Marbella, Mijas has the second highest number of golf courses in Malaga province, with eleven. Standing out as a popular destination for tourists is Mijas Golf Course, with one of the highest number of green fees sold on the Costa del Sol. This expansive complex has two 18-hole golf courses. The same is the case for la Cala, which has 54 holes and six-hole par-three layout. The main ones are: La Cala Golf Course, La siesta Golf Course and Miraflores Golf Course.
Another interesting place for golfers is Benahavis. In spite of being a small village, as far as number of residents is concerned (less than 2000), the municipality speads out expansively, with half a dozen golf courses: La Zagaleta Golf Course, Monte Mayor Golf Course, Marbella CG Golf Course, Los Arqueros Golf Course and Los Flamingos Golf Course. The hilly terrain forms an integral part of each of these courses.
Estepona is another municipality with impressive golf facilities: Atalaya Golf Course (two 18-hole courses), El Paraiso Golf Course (designed by Gary Player), Estepona Golf Course and Coto la Serena Golf Course.
You can find many other places to practise Golf in Malaga province. The main Malaga golf courses are: Alhaurin Golf Course, Añoreta Golf Course, La Duquesa Golf Course, Lauro Golf Course and Torrequebrada Golf Course.
